Kathleen Boyd, MSW, LICSW

Kathleen (“Kathi”) Boyd is a clinical social worker with over forty years of clinical experience. She is a 1985 graduate of Smith College School for Social Work and holds an undergraduate degree in Human Development. Since January of 2013, she has been the director of the Rhode Island Medical Society’s Physician Health Program in which she is responsible for the daily management and operation of the program including conducting initial interventions and providing ongoing case management for all referrals to the program which serves physicians, physician assistants, dentists and podiatrists. In addition, Kathi serves as advisor to Brown University’s Medical Student Health Council, and serves as a consultant to multiple boards of licensure, health care professionals and health care facilities. Kathi holds academic appointments at Brown University, Department of Medicine, and Johnson & Wales University’s Center for Physician Assistant Studies. In 2017, Kathi participated in a strategic planning process that resulted in a structural reorganization of the Rhode Island Physician Health Program.

Prior to her current position, Kathi was senior clinical associate for an employee assistance company that provided clinical, resource and organizational consultation services to companies throughout North America. This included assisting impaired pharmacists employed by a major drug store company, and assisting professional and ancillary staff at two major hospital systems based in Massachusetts. Kathi participates on three FSPHP committees: Northeastern Region Nominating Committee member, the Medical Student & Residents Committee, and the Performance Enhancement & Effectiveness Review Committee (PEER-C). In her spare time, Kathi enjoys sailing, yoga, playing the piano and guitar, and writing music when inspired to do
