Job Summary
Professionals Resource Network, Inc. (“PRN”) is an operator of the State of Florida’s impaired practitioner program. Through the program, PRN coordinates and manages the evaluation and referral of licensees and licensure applicants to approved treatment programs and treatment providers and then monitors the progress of program participants. The purpose of the program is to serve impaired and potentially impaired practitioners for the protection of the health, safety, and welfare of the public. PRN does not provide direct patient care. There is no night or weekend call for participants.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • The Associate Medical Director is responsible for assisting the Medical Director in the overall administration and participant management and monitoring oversight PRN. 
  • Review information relating to program participants and referrals to determine appropriate handling of the case by PRN, including without limitation the referral for evaluation and treatment as indicated, and the development of the terms of program monitoring by PRN;
  • Assist in properly administering and routinely assessing the policies and procedures of the impaired practitioner program for quality assurance and improvement purposes;
  • Assist in ensuring that reports required by the Florida Department of Health (“DOH”) and the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (“DBPR”) are appropriately executed in a timely fashion as directed by the PRN Medical Director or Board;
  • Assist in ensuring that program performance standards and measures, as specified in the DOH and DBPR contracts, are met or exceeded;
  • Promote effective communication and cooperation between PRN, DOH, DBPR, the licensure boards and councils of the DBPR and DOH served by PRN, and the medical schools served by PRN;
  • Represent PRN with a positive image at licensure board meetings, DOH and DBPR meetings and all other meetings and conferences as directed by the PRN Medical Director or Board;
  • Provide testimony on behalf of PRN in DOH and DBPR license discipline proceedings or other civil or criminal litigation as required by subpoena or as requested by the PRN Medical Director or Board;
  • Assist the PRN Medical Director in the review of treatment programs and treatment providers seeking to be approved for use by impaired practitioner program participants and referrals;
  • Assist the PRN Medical Director in updating policies and procedures for approving treatment programs and treatment providers and for periodic review of the same;
  • Prepare and present educational programs relating to topics relevant to the impaired practitioner program operated by PRN, as may be assigned by the PRN Medical Director; and
  • Accept invitations, whenever possible, to address county medical societies, hospital medical staffs, allied health professionals, and other appropriate audiences as assigned by the PRN Medical Director.

Education, Experience:

  • Physician licensed (or willing to be) in Florida.
  • Must have clinical and leadership experience.
  • Must have knowledge/training and certifications in addiction medicine and mental health issues or addiction psychiatry.
  • Must be a certified Medical Review Officer or willing to obtain certification.

This position is a part-time (.4 FTE) virtual with travel.

Job Summary:  The Health Assistance interVention Education Network for Connecticut Health Professionals, Inc. (HAVEN, www.haven-ct.org)) invites applications for the position of Medical Director. This position serves as an organizational manager and an important contributor to clinical monitoring services.

HAVEN is a non-profit organization established by professional membership organizations to provide intervention, support, and accountability for professionals licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health and Department of Consumer Protection/Drug control Division who have a diagnosis or situation which could affect their ability to practice safely. Examples of these conditions include substance abuse or dependence, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, degenerative neurologic conditions, and cognitive disorders.

HAVEN is a confidential resource to the extent provided by law. HAVEN is dedicated to promoting professional health and wellness. Although HAVEN does not provide care and treatment, the primary role of the Medical Director is to make recommendations regarding care and treatment with ultimate decisions about monitoring being made by HAVEN’s medical review committee. The medical director will also work with and manage additional clinical staff members and oversee support services and follow ongoing compliance with wellness programs for participants in HAVEN. The medical director will carry a divided case load of participants and also be responsible for quality improvement/assurance and all clinical policies, procedures and workflows.

While there are no holiday or weekend hours, this is a full-time position, four days in-office, one day remote.

The Medical Director contributes to and implements the standards for the operational excellence of the program. He or she will work with the CEO as a public voice of HAVEN with training programs, organizational leadership, and others.

The Medical Director will attend monthly Medical Review Committee Meetings and quarterly Oversight Committee Meetings and assist with delivery of educational presentations.

The successful candidate will be an MD or DO, with prior management experience, and board certification, in internal medicine, psychiatry, and/or addiction medicine. Experience in substance use and mental health treatment as well as demonstrated leadership and a strong commitment to quality improvement and operational excellence are desired qualifications. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with relationship-centered interpersonal skills, detail oriented, and a hands-on leadership style.

Associate Medical Director and SUD Physician - Pavillon

Job Summary: Serves as the Associate Medical Director and assists in leading the multidisciplinary team in the treatment of all patients. Provides individual outpatient services for select individuals. 
Criminal record background check must meet Pavillon criteria as outlined in the application for employment.
Education Requirements: Board North Carolina and South Carolina Licensed MD or DO; ASAM or Board Certification in Addictions required.
Experience Requirement: Significant experience in the substance use disorder field. Strong clinical/medical background in substance use disorder field, along with exceptional management and organizational skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complies with policies, standards and rules established by Pavillon.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) requests must be submitted and approved by the employee’s manager prior to scheduling PTO time and holidays off.
  • Be a part of Pavillon’s medical/clinical team and will attend and participate in all clinical/medical team meetings.
  • Responsible for the medical care of all Pavillon patients’ history and physicals, health and care while in treatment; supervision of the detox of those patients requiring such.
  • Provide lectures to patients and families.
  • Conduct “Professionals Group” as required.
  • Participate in professional assessment and evaluation of professionals.
  • Work closely with the nursing and medical staff - collaborating and informing these staff of treatment decisions.
  • Cover “On Call” for a week at a time every other week.
  • Participate in Peer-to-Peer reviews for insurance reimbursement and CARF standards.
  • Provide lectures to outside audiences at Lunch & Learns, conferences and other Pavillon sponsored events as requested.
  • Follow the Principles of Medical Ethics of the American Medical Association, all federal and state laws relating to the regulating of Medical Practice, and rules, policies as established by Pavillon.
  • Conduct self professionally, ethically and consistent with the appropriate standard of care in work.
  • Cooperate with Pavillon as requested in the completion of any necessary forms and contracts for third-party reimbursement, or other purposes.
  • Complete and maintain patient medical records in a legible, complete, accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide full cooperation to Pavillon’s attorneys in any litigation and other matters that may arise during contract term.
  • Comply with all continuing medical education requirements as needed to maintain licensure in both North and South Carolina, and as otherwise required for medical specialty.
  • Cooperate and communicate regularly and professionally with Pavillon employees regarding the job duties outlined in the job description.

Duties

  • Intake & Assessment: Conduct intake interviews, gather collateral information, and provide insight for evaluation and treatment planning.

  • Team Leadership: Supervise case management staff and monitor compliance processes, maintains own case load.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Maintain excellent relationships with participants, employers, medical schools, evaluation/treatment providers, insurance companies, credentialing bodies and licensure boards.
  • Policy & Quality Assurance: Support policy development, review processes,  recommend and implement improvements.
  • Education & Outreach: Assist with statewide educational programs and presentations on substance use disorders, mental health, stress, burnout and the physician’s health program.
  • Administrative Duties: Manage scheduling, correspondence, filing, and digital recordkeeping.

Location & Travel

  • Based in Mount Clare, WV with work performed in-office.
  • Occasional statewide travel for educational presentations, conferences, and in-person meetings.

Qualification Requirements

  • Advanced degree in mental health/addiction (MSW, LCPC, NP, RN, PA, MD, DO, or equivalent); state licensure desirable
  • 3–5 years of clinical experience, ideally with professional populations
  • Knowledge of chemical dependency, psychiatric, and medical diagnoses
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; File Center experience is a plus
