FSPHP Continues to Partner with Wisconsin Medical Society in Development of a Model PHP
|
FSPHP continues to partner with the Wisconsin Medical Society in the development of a model physician health program designed to support Wisconsin healthcare professionals.
As part of this ongoing initiative, Kelley Long, MBA, consultant to FSPHP, Chris Bundy, MD, MPH, CMO to FSPHP and Linda Bresnahan, Executive Director & CEO of FSPHP, have provided guidance and consultative support throughout the program's development. Most recently, Dr. Chris Bundy participated in a stakeholder meeting in Madison, Wisconsin, contributing his expertise in clinician well-being and physician health program development.
Supported by the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment (AHW) and led by Jim Lorence, Chief Value and Engagement Officer of the Wisconsin Medical Society, this collaborative initiative brings together healthcare leaders and stakeholders from medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, and other healthcare disciplines. The goal is to strengthen clinician well-being resources and establish a sustainable support infrastructure for healthcare professionals throughout the state.
Since the project's inception, FSPHP has served as a key consulting partner, providing expertise in physician health program development, governance, operations, and national best practices. We are proud to collaborate with the Wisconsin Medical Society and its partners on this important effort to advance clinician well-being, professional resilience, and the long-term sustainability of Wisconsin's healthcare workforce.

FSPHP Chair of PEERCTM Dr. Scott Humphreys on Role of Physician Health Programs in Addiction and Mental Health Care

In a recent Carlat Publishing Addiction Treatment Report interview, Scott Humphreys, MD, Chair of the FSPHP Performance Enhancement and Effectiveness Review™ (#PEER™) Committee (PEERC) and Medical Director of the Colorado Physician Health Program, discusses how Physician & Health Professional Programs (#PHPs) assist physicians experiencing mental health, substance use and behavioral concerns. He also explains the importance of confidentiality, individualized evaluation and treatment, and collaboration among PHPs, treating clinicians and healthcare leaders.
The interview highlights the value of confidential pathways to care, the importance of early intervention, and the positive outcomes that can be achieved when physicians receive appropriate treatment and support. It also provides valuable insight into how PHPs balance physician wellness, professional accountability, and patient safety.

FSPHP to Present “Bridging Credentialing Risk Gaps with Health Verification by State Professional Health Programs” at the NAMSS 50th Educational Conference & Exhibition

FSPHP is honored to be presenting at the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) 50th Educational Conference & Exhibition, taking place October 18–21, 2026, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The session, “Bridging Credentialing Risk Gaps with Health Verification by State Professional Health Programs,” will highlight how Physician Health Programs (PHPs) can partner with medical staff professionals to strengthen credentialing processes, reduce liability risk, and enhance patient safety through confidential health verification solutions.
FSPHP Executive Director Linda Bresnahan, MS, and FSPHP President Edwin Kim, MD, FAPA, MRO will co-present, sharing real-world examples of collaboration between PHPs and medical staff offices, practical strategies to address verification “blind spots,” and emerging opportunities to integrate PHP expertise into broader organizational risk management.

FSPHP is pleased to welcome Melissa Strok as Executive Assistant & Association Project Coordinator. Melissa partners closely with the Executive Director to provide high-level support, coordinate key initiatives, and help advance the organization’s outreach and visibility efforts. She brings extensive experience in executive administration and association management, with prior roles at the Society for College and University Planning and the University of Michigan. Known for her strong organizational skills and attention to detail, Melissa plays an integral role in keeping projects on track and supporting FSPHP’s mission. She lives in Michigan with her family.
